DESCRIPTION:ODOT/DMV-TSO GRANT SUPPORTED\nEMERGENCY RESPONDER TRAINING\nThi
 s class is supported by a grant from the Oregon Dept of Transportation/DMV
  Traffic Safety Office to strengthen the care provided by emergency respon
 ders to vehicle crash victims on Oregon roadways. From this emergency resp
 onder training\, participants are better prepared to provide emergency car
 e to victims of road crashes\; reduce vehicle crash scene times\; and supp
 ort the EMS workforce by acquiring CE that is applicable to maintaining th
 eir EMS licenses!\nCOURSE DESCRIPTION\nThis is the 9th edition course. The
  mission of PHTLS is to promote excellence in trauma patient management by
  all providers involved in the delivery of prehospital care. PHTLS is deve
 loped by NAEMT in cooperation with the American College of Surgeons' Commi
 ttee on Trauma. The Committee provides the medical direction and content o
 versight for the PHTLS program. PHTLS courses improve the quality of traum
 a care and decrease mortality. The program is based on a philosophy stress
 ing the treatment of the multi-system trauma patient as a unique entity wi
 th specific needs. PHTLS promotes critical thinking as the foundation for 
 providing quality care. It is based on the belief that\, given a good fund
  of knowledge and key principles\, EMS practitioners are capable of making
  reasoned decisions regarding patient care. The course utilizes the intern
 ationally recognized PHTLS textbook.\nQUALIFICATIONS\nONLY OREGON-LICENSED
  EMERGENCY RESPONDERS THAT ATTEND TO ROADWAY CRASHES IN RURAL/FRONTIER ARE
 AS CAN REGISTER WITH THE GRANT-SUPPORTED $60 COURSE FEE. Anyone that does 
 not meet that criteria can contact us regarding an alternate fee arrangeme
 nt to participate.\nPHTLS PROVIDER COURSE\nProvider Course: 16-hour 2-day 
 course for EMTs\, paramedics\, nurses\, physician assistants\, physicians 
 and other prehospital providers. Upon successful completion of the course\
 , students receive a certificate of completion\, a wallet card recognizing
  them as PHTLS providers for 4 years\, and 16 hours of CAPCE credit.\nPHTL
 S TEXTBOOK &amp\; COURSE MANUAL REQUIRED\nThe NAEMT requires participants 
 to have the current 9th edition PHTLS Provider main textbook &amp\; Course
  Manual. They are shipped to all participants that complete the registrati
 on process. The text is helpful for pre-course study and the post-test.\n\
 nCOST: $60\n\nThis ODOT/DMV-TSO grant supports the development of new inst
 ructors. We are seeking strong PHTLS instructor candidates. If you or some
