DESCRIPTION:ODOT/DMV-TSO GRANT SUPPORTED\nEMERGENCY RESPONDER TRAINING\nThi
 s class is supported by a grant from the Oregon Dept of Transportation/DMV
  Traffic Safety Office to strengthen the care provided by emergency respon
 ders to vehicle crash victims on Oregon roadways. From this emergency resp
 onder training\, participants are better prepared to provide emergency car
 e to victims of road crashes\; reduce vehicle crash scene times\; and supp
 ort the EMS work force by acquiring CE that is applicable to maintaining t
 heir EMS licenses!\nQUALIFICATIONS\nONLY OREGON LICENSED EMS AND MEDICAL P
 ROVIDERS THAT RESPOND TO ROADWAY CRASHES IN RURAL/FRONTIER AREAS CAN REGIS
 TER WITH THE GRANT-SUPPORTED $50 COURSE FEE. Anyone that does not meet tha
 t criteria can contact us regarding an alternate fee arrangement to partic
 ipate.\nCOURSE DESCRIPTION\nThis is the 9th edition course. The mission of
  PHTLS is to promote excellence in trauma patient management by all provid
 ers involved in the delivery of prehospital care. PHTLS is developed by NA
 EMT in cooperation with the American College of Surgeons' Committee on Tra
 uma. The Committee provides the medical direction and content oversight fo
 r the PHTLS program. PHTLS courses improve the quality of trauma care and 
 decrease mortality. The program is based on a philosophy stressing the tre
 atment of the multi-system trauma patient as a unique entity with specific
  needs. PHTLS promotes critical thinking as the foundation for providing q
 uality care. It is based on the belief that\, given a good fund of knowled
 ge and key principles\, EMS practitioners are capable of making reasoned d
 ecisions regarding patient care. The course utilizes the internationally r
 ecognized PHTLS textbook.\nHYBRID COURSE\nHybrid Provider Course: 16-hour 
 course for EMTs\, paramedics\, nurses\, physician assistants\, physicians 
 and other prehospital providers. Online learning modules provide 8 hours o
 f CE\, followed by the in-person class with skills and scenarios for anoth
 er 8 hours. Upon successful completion of the course\, students receive a 
 certificate of completion\, a wallet card recognizing them as PHTLS provid
 ers for 4 years\, and 16 hours of CAPCE credit.\nPHTLS TEXTBOOK/COURSE MAN
 UAL AND ONLINE LEARNING MODULES REQUIRED\nThe NAEMT requires participants 
 to have the current 9th edition PHTLS Provider main textbook &amp\; Course
  Manual. They are shipped to all participants that complete the registrati
 on process. The text is helpful for pre-course study and the post-test. Th
 e text includes an access code to complete the online modules.\n\nCOST: $5
 0\n\nEven if the course is full\, please register for the waitlist. Then w
 e can inform you of other classes when they are scheduled if a spot does n
 ot open up.\n\nThis ODOT/DMV-TSO grant supports the development of new ins
