DESCRIPTION:ODOT/DMV-TSO GRANT SUPPORTED\nEMERGENCY RESPONDER TRAINING\nThi
 s class is supported by a grant from the Oregon Dept of Transportation/DMV
  Traffic Safety Office to strengthen the care provided by emergency respon
 ders to vehicle crash victims on Oregon roadways. From this emergency resp
 onder training\, participants are better prepared to provide emergency car
 e to victims of road crashes\; reduce vehicle crash scene times\; and supp
 ort the EMS workforce by acquiring CE that is applicable to maintaining th
 eir EMS licenses!\nCOURSE DESCRIPTION\nThis is the 10th edition course. Th
 e mission of PHTLS is to promote excellence in trauma patient management b
 y all providers involved in the delivery of prehospital care. PHTLS is dev
 eloped by NAEMT in cooperation with the American College of Surgeons' Comm
 ittee on Trauma. The Committee provides the medical direction and content 
 oversight for the PHTLS program. PHTLS courses improve the quality of trau
 ma care and decrease mortality. The program is based on a philosophy stres
 sing the treatment of the multi-system trauma patient as a unique entity w
 ith specific needs. PHTLS promotes critical thinking as the foundation for
  providing quality care. It is based on the belief that\, given a good fun
 d of knowledge and key principles\, EMS practitioners are capable of makin
 g reasoned decisions regarding patient care. The course utilizes the inter
 nationally recognized PHTLS textbook.\nQUALIFICATIONS\nONLY EMS/MEDICAL PR
 OVIDERS THAT PROVIDE CARE TO VICTIMS OF ROADWAY CRASHES IN RURAL/FRONTIER 
 OREGON CAN REGISTER WITH THE GRANT-SUPPORTED COURSE FEE. Anyone that does 
 not meet that criteria can contact us regarding an alternate fee arrangeme
 nt to participate.\nPHTLS PROVIDER COURSE\nProvider Course: 16-hour 2-day 
 course for EMTs\, paramedics\, nurses\, physician assistants\, physicians 
 and other prehospital providers. Upon successful completion of the course\
 , students receive a certificate of completion\, a wallet card recognizing
  them as PHTLS providers for 4 years\, and 16 hours of CAPCE credit.\nPHTL
 S TEXTBOOK &amp\; COURSE MANUAL REQUIRED\nThe NAEMT requires participants 
 to have the current 10th edition PHTLS Provider main textbook &amp\; Cours
 e Manual.  Text Book and Manual will be provided for all participants tha
 t complete the registration process.\n\nCOST: $75.00\n\nThis ODOT/DMV-TSO 
 grant supports the development of new instructors. We are seeking strong P
