There is a proposal to redesign Oregon's EMT-Intermediate program. One of the areas to be changed would be pharmacology. Instead of teaching individual drugs (i.e., atropine, morphine, lidocaine, etc.), the new EMT-I curriculum would teach 'classes of drugs' (i.e., narcotics, antiarrhythmics, etc.). The EMT-I would learn about their individual drugs at their specific agency. This way an EMS agency can pick which narcotic, antiarrhythmic, etc., they will carry. At this time there are no new skills being suggested nor old skills being dropped, although this will likely be discussed. Proposers are also trying to not increase the EMT-I class hours. QUESTION: AS A CONCEPT, DO YOU SUPPORT THE CHANGES BEING PROPOSED?
