South Sherman Fire & Rescue (Posted 1-13-2012)

 

District: Provides a full range of services to approximately 387 square miles of beautiful rural areas in Southern Sherman County. The area’s rivers and racetrack provide for a wide range of recreational and cultural activities. The District personnel include: 1 part time employee, approximately 13 volunteer staff, 11 temporary hourly employees, and 3 cadets.

Position: Recruiting to fill up to (3) Temporary Hourly Paramedic positions and (3) Temporary Hourly Basic positions for the 2012 race season at Oregon’s premier racetrack. Race season usually runs from April to October, mostly weekends however we do have some events during the week. Hours will very from an eight-hour day to a eleven-hour day. Will attempt to bunch several days in a row for those that have to travel (Depends on how many days the track is rented. Last year we had 96 days booked, this year it is looking better then last.) The races are everything from streetcars, modified cars, motorcycles, and go-carts.

Hourly rate: Temporary Hourly Paramedics earn $20.00 per hour (Basic hour rate is $15.00) and are not eligible for benefits.

          Housing: The District has living quarters available for those that do not live in the area.

 

Qualifications:
     High School Graduate or equivalent

     National Registry or Oregon State EMT-Paramedic or EMT Basic certification

     Valid Drivers License

Regional Telephonic Medicine Center – Support Agent

On-call

 

In this role, you will be a key coordinator responsible for repatriation, ambulance dispatch, outside emergency department and hospital coordination, priority calls, messaging, bed finding and other duties as necessary in the Regional Telephonic Medicine Center (RTMC). You will answer the primary RTMC phone-line for these services and directly manage or triage calls as appropriate per protocol. In addition, you will support the physician and advice nurses working in the RTMC with coordination of consultations, documentation, and other tasks as needed.

 

Qualifications include:

·      Two years of experience working as an EMT or paramedic

·      Two years of experience working at Kaiser Permanente preferred

·      An Oregon or Washington certification as an EMT-Intermediate or EMT-Paramedic

·      Excellent inter-personal, oral, and written communication skills

·      Excellent multi-tasking ability

·      Effective in conflict resolution and team building
